CAN I COOK PIZZA IN THE AIR FRYER?

Yes, you can, in fact, you SHOULD!

homemade pizza in the air fryer.

I’ve used my new Ninja Foodi Max Grill Max Pro to cook pizza in the air fryer and the result is incredible, it’s actually better than baking it in the oven.

I’ve got my Ninja Foodi Max Pro a few weeks ago from Very.co.uk, and I’m not lying when I say, I have NOT turned my oven on ever since.

This is by far the BEST kitchen appliance I’ve ever put my hands on.

First things first, Very.co.uk is my go-to online store for almost anything, from fashion, home, tech & more. If you’re looking to shop for a new air fryer, check their amazing range of air fryers (many are currently on offer, including mine!).

They offer a choice of ways to pay and free next-day delivery for almost anything and click & collect option. Highly recommended!

Now, moving on to the Ninja Foodi Max Pro Health Grill, Flat Plate and Air fryer.

This large grill and air fryer takes everyday cooking to the next level, and I mean it. Here are a few things you’ll be able to use it for:

GRILL

Switch between the grill plate for sizzling steaks, chicken, corn hobs, veggies, and anything else you can think of with grill marks, and the flat plate, for sauteeing fish and seafood or cooking sunny side up eggs.

It also comes with Smart Cook System, meaning you can make perfectly cooked steaks and fish!

BAKE

Yes, you can bake in it! It comes with adjustable temperature and time, so you can safely bake cookies and cakes.

I made a batch of Italian butter cookies and my favorite carrot cake and they both baked perfectly.

REHEAT AND DEHYDRATE

You can use the reheat function to reheat your breakfast pancakes or any other food, plus you can dehydrate fruit and veggies and make apple chips or strawberry chips for a healthy snack.

AIR FRYER

I’ve been using the air fryer mode every single day and it’s simply amazing. You can air fry to enjoy the same great taste using little or no added oil, saving up to 75% less fat than deep frying – from golden French fries and breaded chicken to classic fish and chips, and of course, air fryer pizza!

Here below I’m going to show you just how easy and quick is to make pizza in the air fryer.

AIR FRYER PIZZA INGREDIENTS

The best air fryer pizza is made with just 3 simple main ingredients:

air fryer pizza ingredients: pizza dough, pizza sauce, burrata cheese, basil leaves.
  • Pizza dough: you can use my homemade Italian pizza dough recipe to make about 4 individual pizzas. You can also use shop-bought pizza dough.
  • Pizza sauce: the best homemade marinara sauce is made with crushed tomatoes, a little oregano, and olive oil. You can of course use store-bought marinara sauce.
  • Cheese: use homemade mozzarella, store-bought mozzarella, shredded mozzarella, or my favorite option, burrata cheese. If using fresh mozzarella, make sure you pat it dry with kitchen paper to absorb the water in excess.

MORE TOPPINGS IDEAS

I love a simple Margherita pizza (tomato + mozzarella or burrata + basil), but here are a few more pizza toppings that you might like:

  • Parma ham: Italian prosciutto on pizza is always delicious.
  • Veggies: grilled veggies, mushrooms, caramelized onion, marinated artichoke hearts, tomato confit, and sundried tomatoes all work well.
  • Cured meat: ham, salami, and pepperoni are always a classic!

HOW TO MAKE PIZZA IN THE AIR FRYER

Making pizza in the air fryer is a pretty easy and straightforward process that takes literally no more than 10 minutes. Here is what you need to do:

collage of four images showing the four steps on how to make pizza in the air fryer.

STEP 1

Roll the pizza dough on a clean lightly floured surface, and make a pizza base just large enough to fit your air fryer basket.

STEP 2

Spread just enough marinara sauce on top of the base, leaving a border.

STEP 3

Place the pizza in the air fryer, and cook at 375 C / 180 C for 8 minutes, or until the crust is golden.

STEP 4

Add mozzarella chunks or burrata chunks on top of the pizza base and cook for 1-2 minutes or until the cheese has melted.

Remove the pizza from the air fryer, allow it to cool slightly, and serve.

CAN YOU FREEZE LEFTOVER PIZZA?

Yes, you can! After you have baked your pizza, you can freeze the leftovers.
Place leftover pizzas on a baking sheet, freeze for 30 minutes, then transfer in ziplock bags and store in the freezer for up to 3 months.

AIR FRYER PIZZA TIPS

  • My pizza dough recipe makes about 3-4x 8-inch-sized pizzas, depending on your air fryer.
  • For a Neapolitan pizza roll the dough very thin or up to ¼ inch.
  • This is optional, but I like to place a small round sheet of baking paper under the pizza base before transferring it to the air fryer.
  • You can precook the pizza base for 3 minutes if you like, then add tomato sauce and all the toppings and continue to cook the pizza for further 6 minutes.
  • Although optional, after your pizza is ready, finish off with a swirl of good extra-virgin olive oil right before serving.
